Tanks For The Memories (Almost...)

My original "Build a Tanks for the Memories" entry was smashed into too many pieces to bother going for the glue. This is another custom I was working on at the same time, and it had a similar theme so I decided to posts these pics so I'd at least have something to show. It really isn't a tank (though I did put convention Rip-Its in the commander seats anyway), so I'm no longer in the contest, but I do still have a carded anniversary fig to throw into the kitty for the winner, & like I said, I still wanted to show pics of something. Enjoy:

Tanks for the Thunder, er, well, whatever - here are the vehicle pics:

A few pics of the crew, mostly anniversary figs here. Four Cobra Vehicle Drivers are in the cab and four Cobra Troopers are manning the gun stations - all from the Legions boxed set. I had to put a couple of convention Rip-Its in the commanders seats - the theme just worked even though the tank thing kind of well, uh, tanked...

And I suppose a shot or two of the redone missiles. I'm pretty happy with the way these came out - I really didn't have very high expectations for the paint I was using, but I think the end result was well worth the gamble:

I'm sure it's clear enough, but most parts did come from a Rolling Thunder (or a few of them). The missiles are strays from several different vehicles, my only real objective in arming this was that the tab shape & sizes match and that there were enough of a given missile for some consistency. All paints were Krylon, everything except the large missiles was painted with Fusion. The large missiles were painted with a "Hammered Finish" paint. All decals were bought from G.I. Joe Heaven. Figs, except Rip-It were from the Legions sets, Rip-It was available at the con last year. Oh yeah - almost forgot, the chin-gun is from an 8" Sigma Six figure. I don't know which one, but it fit with very little adjusting so I used it...

Original contest is at the YoJoe! forums.
